Downtime (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Rod's Perspectives LLC, a Michigan limited liability company. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Downtime platform, including our website, SMS service, and business management tools.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Business owners: First name, business name, email address, and phone number when you sign up for Downtime.
OAuth credentials: When you connect Google Business Profile or Meta/Instagram, we receive access tokens and refresh tokens that allow us to manage your business listings on your behalf. We do not receive or store your Google or Meta passwords.
SMS messages: The content of text messages you send to our service number, including commands to update your business hours or post content.

Information Collected Automatically

Consumer users: Device-provided location (latitude and longitude) when you choose to share it, to show nearby open businesses.
Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns via privacy-respecting analytics (PostHog).
Device information: Browser type, operating system, and screen size for improving the experience.

2. How We Use Your Information

To manage your business listings on Google, Meta, Instagram, and other connected platforms as you direct via SMS or the owner portal.
To send you SMS messages related to your account, including confirmations of changes, connection status alerts, and service notifications.
To display accurate business hours and information to consumers searching for open places.
To improve the Downtime platform and develop new features.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. SMS Messaging

When you provide your phone number during signup and consent to receive messages, we will send you SMS messages related to your Downtime account. These include command confirmations, platform connection alerts, and service updates.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes at any time.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

Platform APIs: We transmit your business information (hours, posts, photos) to Google, Meta, Instagram, and other platforms you explicitly connect — solely to manage your listings as you direct.
Service providers: We use Twilio for SMS delivery, Supabase for data storage, and Vercel for hosting. These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect your information.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

OAuth tokens are stored server-side only and are never exposed to client-side code.
All data is transmitted over HTTPS encryption.
Database access is restricted via row-level security policies.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion or cancel your account:

Business profile data and OAuth tokens are deleted within 30 days.
SMS audit logs are retained for up to 90 days for dispute resolution, then permanently deleted.
Anonymized usage analytics may be retained indefinitely.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information by contacting us.
Delete your account and associated data. See our Data Deletion page for instructions.
Disconnect any connected platform at any time by revoking access in your Google or Meta account settings.
Opt out of SMS messages by texting STOP at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

Downtime is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify business owners of material changes via SMS or email. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
